In February 2025, St. Maarten Shipping & Stevedoring (SSS) President and CEO, George Pelgrim traveled to Louisville, Mississippi, for a technical and strategic visit with Taylor International. As a long-time client of Taylor, SSS continues to prioritize face-to-face engagements to strengthen our partnerships with key equipment manufacturers and service providers. This visit was both timely and impactful as we look ahead to upcoming infrastructure developments and equipment lifecycle planning at the Port of St. Maarten.
Taylor International has been a trusted partner for many years, providing high-capacity reach stackers, container handlers, and heavy-duty forklifts that are integral to our port operations. With an ever-increasing demand for reliability, uptime, and responsive service support, it is critical that we stay aligned with the OEMs powering our logistics backbone. The meetings in Mississippi focused on equipment performance metrics, upcoming technology upgrades, and future-proofing our fleet to meet evolving maritime and intermodal logistics needs in the Caribbean region.
During the visit, George toured Taylor’s state-of-the-art manufacturing and rebuild facilities and had in-depth discussions with their international operations and product engineering teams. Topics included telematics integrations for real-time diagnostics, component lifecycle tracking, and options for expanding local parts availability to reduce equipment downtime.
This kind of proactive collaboration is essential to our ongoing commitment to service excellence and operational efficiency. We would like to thank the team at Taylor International for their hospitality and openness during the visit. As we continue to invest in the growth and modernization of our port operations, we look forward to deepening this partnership and ensuring we remain on the leading edge of logistics capabilities in the region.
